COVID-19 Safety and Reopening

We are pleased to announce that the Centre Furnace Mansion has reopened for tours by appointment. Tour hours are 1:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday, Wednesday, Friday. Mansion tours are free and open to the public; donations are appreciated (suggested donation $4.00.) Please allow 1 hour for a tour. The first two levels and restrooms are accessible.

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Centre County Historical Society has been committed to following government and public health guidance to keep our staff and our visitors safe. We will continue to monitor resurgence levels in Centre County and follow CDC guidelines on masking accordingly. This page will be updated as needed. Thank you for your patience and support!

We have a small staff and team of volunteers and we need to do everything we can to ensure the safety of our staff as well as our visitors. Abiding by the protocols in place, however cumbersome, helps ensure the best outcomes for everyone who comes to the Centre Furnace Mansion.

  • We ask visitors, volunteers, and staff to conduct their own health assessment before entering the building. If you are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19, we ask that you wait to visit the Mansion or Boogersburg School.

  • While Pennsylvania has lifted all remaining COVID-19 restrictions, we respectfully ask that everyone wear a mask while indoors at the Centre Furnace Mansion.

  • High-contact surfaces such as door handles, railings, and restrooms are cleaned thoroughly after visitors. Hand sanitizer is available throughout the Mansion.

  • Programs that are typically held indoors will continue to be held virtually via Zoom. Programs can be live streamed or viewed at your convenience on our YouTube channel.

  • CCHS will continue to refine and adapt its protocols based on CDC health recommendations.

  • CCHS shall remain in compliance with all local ordinances set forth by the Council of College Township.
