The Plant Celebration has become a spring tradition at the Centre Furnace Mansion and plays an important role in the fun and fundraising efforts of the Centre County Historical Society! The Plant Celebration & Garden Sale is one of CCHS’s largest fundraising events.  Do your Spring garden shopping here, while supporting a local non-profit organization that helps people understand, experience, appreciate and preserve Centre County’s cultural and natural heritage.

Proceeds from this event benefit the Historical Society, including its care of the gardens and grounds of Centre Furnace Mansion and Boogersburg School.

This event is held on the grounds of the Centre Furnace Mansion, a site listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Browse the native and non-native plants for sale by local growers and from the Mansion gardens and take a self-guided tour of the gardens and grounds. Event is held rain or shine!

Our friends at the Lemont Village Association will hold their annual Plant Sale on the same date from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. in the Lemont Village Green.

9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Winghaven Nursery The term “Winghaven” describes both the philosophy and the goal of this fledgling nursery. It began a couple years ago out of a compulsion to do whatever I could to help stop the alarming decline in our pollinator and migratory bird species. I want to show people they can create beautiful spaces for themselves as well as our winged friends using native trees, shrubs and perennials. A biologist and life-long observer of nature, I have a deep desire to connect with others who share my concern for the degradation we have wrought upon our/their ecosystems/habitats and to work together toward restoration, balance and peace.
James Eisenstein An unpaid field hand on my son’s certified organic vegetable farm (Jade Family Farm) since retirement, I spend my time working on the farm and starting extra heirloom tomato plants. I have been selling them at the plant sale for more than 5 years now. It is very enjoyable to meet the folks who attend it. I donate all proceeds to the Museum after taking a little bit off to cover my expenses.

Jim’s tomato plants go fast, be sure to visit his table early!

Rose Franklin’s Perennials Rose Franklin’s Perennials is located near Spring Mills. Busy shipping orders that arrive via web site sales, the nursery is no longer open to walk-in customers. Rose is also the author of Fast Track Butterfly Gardening, a book published in 2012, and available on Amazon.com.
